The W Barcelona, known as the Hotel Vela (“sail”) for its silhouette, is a five-star W hotel (Marriott) designed by Ricardo Bofill, at the end of Passeig de Joan de Borbó, in Barceloneta, by the sea. It opened on 1 October 2009 and has 26 floors and 473 rooms, 67 of them suites.

It has COYA, serving Peruvian cuisine, FIRE, SALT Restaurant and SALT Beach Club, the W Lounge and the AWAY Spa, as well as two pools: the Wet Deck pool and a private infinity pool on the Sun Deck. For events it has 21 rooms, including the Great Room, of 968 m², for 800 people at a cocktail reception or 700 for a banquet, and the Altitude Terrace, of 1,250 m², for 600 at a cocktail reception.
