About The Palace
The Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, is a five-star grand luxury hotel on Plaza de las Cortes, opposite the Congress of Deputies and a few steps from the Prado and Thyssen museums, in the so-called Art Triangle. King Alfonso XIII opened it in 1912, when it was the largest hotel in Europe, and today it is part of Marriott’s The Luxury Collection after a complete refurbishment. It has around 470 rooms and suites, inspired by Madrid’s culture and by Miguel de Cervantes; the largest is the 168 m² Royal Suite.
Its hallmark is the stained-glass dome over the central courtyard, beneath which is the main restaurant. During the Civil War it was a military hospital, and its guests have included Ernest Hemingway, who has a room named after him, Salvador Dalí and Pablo Picasso. It is the largest luxury meeting venue in central Madrid, with 21 rooms over more than 3,700 m²; the Salón Medinaceli hosts large receptions of up to 500 people.
Phone: +34 913 60 80 00. It has several restaurants, a classic cocktail bar and grand function rooms, opposite the Congress of Deputies.
