About Asador Donostiarra

Asador Donostiarra is one of Madrid’s longest-standing Basque grill houses, on Calle de la Infanta Mercedes in Tetuán, open since 1976 and famous for its grilled old-cow txuletón chop, which has made it a meeting point for footballers, artists and business people. It is a family house, with almost fifty years of experience, open 363 days a year and proud to convey warmth and affection on every visit. From the grill and the oven come the txuletón for two, old-cow tenderloin and entrecôte, suckling pig and milk-fed lamb shoulder, and from the sea hake Bilbao-style or in salsa verde, hake cheeks in pil-pil, monkfish, sole or Donostia-style spider crab, plus txuletón croquettes, judiones or verdina beans and homemade desserts such as pantxineta or goxua. It has several dining rooms with history, the Donosti from 1976, the Concha from 1986 with its wine cellar and the Igueldo with its portholes and a terrace for summer and winter, and four private rooms.

Opening hours
Monday to Saturday, 1:15 pm to 4 pm and 8:30 pm to 11:30 pm. Sunday, 1:15 pm to 4 pm. Closed for holidays from late July to mid-August.

Before you go
Casual dress, but no sleeveless tops or beachwear. Wheelchair accessible, with an adapted toilet.
