Desde 1911 is the fish and seafood restaurant of Pescaderías Coruñesas, the García Azpíroz family’s tribute (the fourth generation of fishmongers and Maragato muleteers) to those who made Madrid Spain’s capital of fresh fish. It holds one Michelin star and two Repsol Suns, and its idea is that Madrid is the peninsula’s “best seaport”: the menu is rewritten every day with what arrives from the fish markets in less than twenty-four hours. Guests choose three, four, five or six of the day’s six starters, depending on the menu, followed by a single fish, the best of those that reached Pescaderías Coruñesas that day, then a cheese board and desserts. It cooks with traditional craft techniques and makes great use of the wood-fired oven. The cellar pays tribute to the great Spanish wine houses, with verticals and old vintages, plus international champagnes and whites. A team of forty, with Abel Valverde in the dining room and Diego Murciego in the kitchen, looks after the dining room, the central garden and the Privado 1911, for groups of 10 to 24. It has valet parking.

5+1 menu: €235.
6+1 menu: €270.
All end with a cheese board and desserts.

Privado 1911
A private room for 10 to 24 people, overlooking the central garden, with the same menu format; the details are settled the day before according to the produce.

Opening hours
Wednesday to Saturday, 1:30 pm to 4 pm and 8:30 pm to 11 pm. Closed Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays.

Before you go
There is valet parking. Shorts and flip-flops are not allowed.
