About El Pescador

El Pescador is the seafood restaurant of Pescaderías Coruñesas on Calle de José Ortega y Gasset in the Salamanca district, opened in 1975 to serve the house’s finest produce. It was a revolution in Madrid: it recommended fish without sauces or dressings, not even lemon, because the quality of the produce spoke for itself, a philosophy set by Evaristo García that is now its hallmark. It is the sister house of O’Pazo, Desde 1911, Filandón and Lhardy. In 2010 it was refurbished to give the bar more prominence, with a shellfish display on view, without losing the essence of the dining room. All its fish and shellfish are fresh and wild and arrive daily from Pescaderías Coruñesas: shellfish by weight, from Galician spider crab to Huelva carabinero prawn or Galician goose barnacles, the El Pescador seafood platter, oysters, caviar, carabinero croquettes, loose omelette with garlic prawns and fish such as line-caught hake, wild turbot or Evaristo sole, cooked to your liking. The bar and terrace stay open all day, and there is valet parking.
