Call to bookAbout La Trainera
La Trainera is a classic seafood restaurant in the Salamanca district, on Calle de Lagasca, founded in 1966 by Miguel García Gómez, who came from the fish trade through family tradition and has since brought the best fish and shellfish from the ports to Madrid. Its name recalls the traineras, the boats from which fishermen cast the “traina”, a very fine net for catching anchovies and sardines, and its decor is nautical. Its great strength is the produce: it has its own tanks and staff in the ports of origin who choose the best fish and shellfish so they arrive within hours, and a wholesale stand at Mercamadrid. It boasts the best turbot in Madrid, turbot “a la Trainera”, alongside Trainera sole, hake marinera with Carril clams and prawns, seafood salpicón, seafood soup and shellfish by weight, from velvet crabs to carabinero prawns and Cantabrian spiny lobster. It has private rooms for 2 to 50 people and is open all day.
